Asbury Woods Has Fun Things to Do in the Winter

Looking for fun things to do in the winter in Erie? Put Asbury Woods on the top of your list. If you’ve seen any of my other blog posts, you probably already know that Asbury Woods is one of my favorite parks in Erie, PA. It’s an amazing park to check out if you haven’t been there already. Additionally, there are normally tons of activities being offered. In fact, you can even go cross country skiing or snowshoeing at Asbury Woods!

What If I Don’t Know How to Cross Country Ski or Snowshoe?

Have no fear if you don’t know how to ski or snowshoe! Actually, you are not expected to be an expert. During times when there is plenty of snowfall on the ground, you can take a cross country ski or snowshoe clinic to learn how to do either activity. Prices are $15 per session or $12 if you are a donor. Alternatively, you can skip the clinic and watch how to videos here: https://www.asburywoods.org/rentals/snowshoe-and-cross-country-ski-rentals/. Cross country skiing and snowshoeing are offered only if there’s more than 6 inches of snow. Also, feel free to rent the equipment and try it out on your own. Not to mention, renting the equipment is budget friendly! Prices are:

$7 per hour for snowshoes (or $5 if you are a donor).
$10 per hour for cross country skis (or $8 if you are a donor).

Show up at the Nature Center once you are bundled up and ready to go. You will have to fill out a liability form and either leave your driver’s license or car keys that you can pick up after you return your skis or snowshoes. A guardian must sign for people under 18 years old. If you need help getting started with the equipment, workers or volunteers are available to answer any questions.
